Mayetta, KS – On Saturday night, Thunder Hill Speedway will pay tribute to Oren Covert, a longtime area racer. The popular racer was famous for his familiar #17 machines that he raced for nearly 40 years. Oren passed away in 2002, and has since been memorialized annually at the Oren Covert Memorial Race. Oren raced everything from Jalopies, to Supermodifieds, Sprint Cars, Stock Cars, Late Models, and finally ending in Modifieds. He was know as a “legend” in the racing community.
Alan Covert, son to Oren, has many surprises on hand for Saturday night. “Milestone Marketing has gave me some goodies to give away. Bill Butrick, long time supporter, has donated cash to give out. Thanks to Morgan Dixon at Advance Auto Parts, who donated a trophy toolbox for the BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modified winner. Eric and Kelsey Adams of Top Office Products of Junction City, put all the graphics on the toolbox and designed this years t-shirts. It’s going to be a great night! You don’t wanna miss it!”
