Kyle Stallbaumer rolls to a win. Larry Mzhickteno

Mayetta, KS (08/09/2014) – Ladies Night at The Races brought out a large crowd once again at Thunder Hill Speedway on Saturday night. For the 2nd straight week there were new winners in every class except for 1! One winner sat out all last year before deciding to return to racing last week!

Kyle Stallbaumer didn’t race all last year in the BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modified division. As a matter of fact he was almost looking at missing all of 2014 until he decided to come back out last week.

Stallbaumer only needed one night to get acclimated to racing once again because tonight he went on to Pit Pass Liquor Victory Lane in just his 2nd night out.

As the green flag flew on the speedway, Stallbaumer got out to the early lead and worked to stay there. Several times in the feature Justin Becker pulled up to the leader but was unable to get the job done to get by him. Lapped traffic looked to be the perfect time to pass. Stallbaumer navigated the lapped traffic to perfection and it pushed him to his 1st victory in quite some time. Kyle would become the 6th different IMCA Modified Feature winner of the season.

The Stallbaumer family had reason to celebrate Kyle’s brother, Mat, finished 3rd on the night and took over the points lead in the division. Becker finished 2nd, M. Stallbaumer finished 3rd, 4th was Scott Brown and rounding out the top 5 was Tom Charles in a photo finish over Van Gemmill.

New winners continued to grab headlines in other classes too.

Sport Mod winner #27 threads the needle early in the feature. Larry Mzhickteno

One week ago Chad Shaw sprinted into the lead in the Belleville Motor Sports IMCA Northern SportMod Feature. The trouble one week ago centered around the fact that he spun out on his own while at the front. This week it was a solid repeat of the race one week ago.

By lap #4 Shaw found himself in the lead. He would stay there and go unchallenged to the checkered flag. Yellow flags would bunch up the field but Shaw would stretch his lead back out each time.

Shaw became different winner #7 on the year in the IMCA Northern SportMods.

Jacob Davis had the best run of his young career finishing in 2nd, Tracy Schaefer also logged a personal best finish of 3rd on the season, 4th went to Dusty Leonard and Austin Charles brought home a top 5 in 5th.

It was win #1 for Nicholas Ronnebaum. Larry Mzhickteno

Another new victor was found in the Bad Boyz Bail Bonds IMCA Hobby Stock division.

The feature event was marred by a pileup on the opening lap that saw Dustin Hubach flip over the retaining wall outside of turn #2. Hubach would be fine and the racing action would continue.

Nicholas Ronnebaum would be the man of the hour. Ronnebaum dropped to the lead by getting around Tyler Garst, last week’s feature winner.

At the top spot it was his to keep. Tyler Hinrichs would give him a good run for his money. On the final lap a lapped car would get into the line of Ronnebaum. To keep Hinrichs behind him, Ronnebaum used the car to his advantage and picked up his 1st win of the season.

Ronnebaum became the 7th different feature winner as he pulled into the Pit Pass Liquor Victory Lane. Hinrichs would settle for 2nd, 3rd went to Tyler Garst, Patrick Thyfault finished 4th and Dominic Thyfault was 5th.

The other new winner on the night was Art Herzog in the Casey’s General Stores IMCA Sport Compact division. Herzog battled with Austin Umscheid before taking the lead for good and going on to the win. Herzog’s win makes 4 different winners on the season in this division. Umscheid finished 2nd, Rachel Davis raced to 3rd place and Brandon Lodbell brought his ride home in 4th.

2nd time's a charm for Eric Rempel. Larry Mzhickteno

In the Heinen Repair Service IMCA Stock Car Feature there was a repeat winner.

Brandon Conkwright took to the point position early in this one, but Rempel was just to tough on the night. Rempel won his heat race earlier in the night and went by Conkwright on the high side out of turn 4 to take the lead. At this point Rempel would not look back as he would stretch the lead out and go on to win his 2nd race of the season in as many weeks.

Brian Labonte overcame problems in his heat to finish in the 2nd spot, 3rd went to a hard charging Marvin Griffith Jr. and Greg Deters taking 4th and Brandon Conkwright rounded out the top 5.
