FOOL’S DAYMELTDOWN APPROACHING FAST AT THUNDER HILL
For the last couple of years, Thunder Hill Speedway has endedthe year with a two-day extravaganza called “Thunder on the Hill.” The success of that race has led to another race – the two-day“Fool’s Day Meltdown” to take place on March 31 and April 1.
The two-day show will showcase all five divisions that willcompete at Thunder Hill Speedway in 2012 – the IMCA Modifieds, the IMCANorthern SportMods, the IMCA Stock Cars, the IMCA Hobby Stocks, and thenew-for-2012 IMCA Sport Compacts. All divisions will compete for extra moneyat the Meltdown; the Modifieds will be running for $2,000 to win, the StockCars and Northern Sportmods will each do battle for $750 to win, the HobbyStocks will compete for $400 to win, and the Sport Compacts will race for a$150 top prize. The race will pay IMCA National, Regional, and State points;the Track point season does not start until April 28.
“We’ve had a lot of interest from all over theMidwest, and we’ve received pre-entry forms from many of the top IMCAdrivers in the area,” promoter Mike Conkwright said. Although pre-entrieshave not closed, the deadline is rapidly approaching on March 23rd. Pre-entry fees for Modifieds will be $75.00; Stocks and Northern Sportmods canpre-enter for $50.00; Hobby Stocks can pre-enter for $25.00; and pre-entry forSport Compacts will be $10.00. After March 25th, entry fees go up$25.00. The pre-entry fee is equal to pay for non-transfers to the“A” feature.
The race will be run on a format consisting of heats andqualifiers on Saturday, and last chance races and “A” features onSunday. Gates open at Noon each day with the driver’s meeting at 2 PM. Hot laps will be at 2:30, with racing to follow. Pit passes will be $30 perday or $50 for both days; general admission will be $10 for adults on Saturdayand $15 on Sunday; kids 6-12 will be $5 each day.

In anticipation of the Meltdown, Thunder Hill will hold a practice on Saturday, March 24th, from 1:00 PM until 6 PM. The fee to practice willbe $10 per driver.
