Mayetta, KS – Oh boy race fans can you feel it? That’s right, Kool and The Gang is warming up right now as we speak.

‘Oh yes it’s Ladies night and I feel alright. Oh yes it’s Ladies night. Oh what I night!’

No, Kool and The Gang won’t be at Thunder Hill Speedway on Saturday night, August 9th, but it will be Ladies Night. All ladies will get in free! Nothing beats free. Thunder Hill Speedway has put together a Ladies night special for female race fans and this Saturday night it’s the final one of the season. Ladies can come out in droves to enjoy a great time and stay to watch some great racing.

All 5 IMCA classes will be on the dance card for Ladies Night. Gates will open at 5 p.m., hot laps are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and the racing is scheduled to follow shortly after hot laps!!!

Last Week’s Recap…

Last week was Heinen Repair Service Night at the Races and it was another strong night with a great crowd and exciting racing. Danny Holt marched through the field and won his 2nd consecutive BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modified feature, it was a new face in victory lane in the Heinen Repair Service IMCA Stock Car division, Eric Rempel, Eddie Schwope III kept it in the ‘family’ by winning the Belleville Motor Sports IMCA Northern SportMods Feature and Tyler Garst won a barn burner on the final lap of the Bad Boyz Bail Bonds IMCA Hobby Stock Feature.

411 On Each Division

BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modifieds…

Dan The Man, Danny Holt came into last week with 3 wins under his belt and when he left Saturday night he collected win #4. The win was Holt’s 2nd win in a row and his 4th of the season. Holt’s 4 wins on the season tie him with Jordan Grabouski for the most wins this season in the Modified division. Matt Stallbaumer turned in some impressive lap times last week as he has done most of this season. Unfortunately he hasn’t gotten to many breaks yet, but with a 3rd place finish last week things could be looking up. Past champ, Tom Charles, has been steadily crawling up the standings and after last week is now sitting in 3rd place. A new car might be coming for the wily veteran and that could mean trouble for the competition. The top 2 in the point standings still remain the same with Danny Holt leading Matt Stallbaumer by 12 points.

Heinen Repair Service IMCA Stock Cars…

LUCKY #7, competition breeds competition and the IMCA Stock Car class has a ton of competition and now it can boast it’s 7th different feature winner of the season, Eric Rempel. Rempel was running away with the feature until a late yellow forced a green white checkered. Marvin Griffith Jr. gave it his all but came up just short in the end. It was a tough night for the points leader, Matt Haid. Haid had car problems and was relegated to 9th place finish. The bad night for Haid allowed Marvin Griffith Jr. to take the top spot in the points. Hats off to Mike Taylor. Taylor drove Matt Haid’s old car and wheeled it to a 4th place finish in a limited 2014 season. Only 10 points separates the top 4 in the point standings. This race is just starting to heat up!!!

Belleville Motor Sports IMCA Northern Sport Mods…

Schwope There It Is!, Eddie Schwope III kept winning in the family for the 2nd straight week in the Sport Mod division. Eddie Schwope Jr. took home the feature two weeks ago. With the win it marked the 7th different driver that has made it into victory lane this season. It’s possible that Thunder Hill could have as many as 10 different winners by the seasons end. Last week there were a rash of accidents that put some drivers deep in the field. Aaron Hilderman and Curtis Dreasher are two drivers that started last week’s feature 22nd and 24th. Both drivers put on a whale of a run as Hilderman would finish 3rd and Dreasher finished 4th. It makes one wonder what would have happened if they started closer to the front. Jeremy Pittsenbarger is still the points leader but Hilderman, Dreasher and Luke Stallbaumer are just 13 points back.

Bad Boyz Bail Bonds IMCA Hobby Stocks…

It’s Never Over Until It’s Over…, Tyler Garst kept chipping away last Saturday night. Patrick Thyfault got out to the big early lead, but yellow flags and one persistent racer, Garst, wouldn’t let Thyfault relax. On the last lap Garst would make his move and make it to the finish line for his 1st win of 2014. Jaylen Wettengel is about to enter his 1st year at Perry Lecompton High School and last week he celebrated his best run of the season finishing 3rd in the main event. Another driver who had problems all night and started 14th in the feature was Dominic Thyfault. Thyfault overcame his problems and raced his way to a 4th place finish. Only 25 points separate the top 5 drivers in the points race. The Hobby Stock points battle is going to come down to the final night this season.

He has won the last 3 Sport Compact features and he doesn’t plan on slowing down any time soon. Lexi Boyden is currently 2nd in the points standings and still looking to get her first win. This division is a fun one and we will see how it shakes out Saturday night.
